The back-to-back drawing communication exercise will get your groups and couples working together, talking, and thinking about how they communicate. Groups are split into pairs of "listeners" and "speakers". The speaker will describe an image for the listener to draw, but the listener cannot speak. Neither person can see the other's paper.
The purpose of the activity is for students to act as ‘Listeners’ to another ‘Speaker”, practice their listening and critical thinking skills, and try to recreate the drawing/image based on the ‘Speakers’ description.
One person will describe the pictures. The descriptions should be about size, shape and details, not naming the object or saying what it does. There is a list of words not allowed to be used in the descriptions. The other person has to listen carefully to the description and draw their Listening activity with blocks. This listening activity with blocks works well with younger and early school-aged kids together. If your kids are learning colors or counting, this game is a perfect fit for that too.
